She had no clue that her own cells would be utilized to develop the first immortalized human cell line that is still replicating to this day. She had no clue that her own DNA contained superhuman capabilities that would help cure diseases like polio. What Henrietta Lacks did know, however, was that there is something in the universe that connects us all and there’s a science to understanding it. And while we can compare Henrietta and the Incredible Hulk with similarities of superhuman strength at the cellular level for the obvious, it is important to keep in mind that Henrietta was real and like many heroes that have already come and gone before us, her incredible contributions continue to live on.
